SporView™ Biological Indicator Culture Set for Sterilization Monitoring
Details
SPS Medical CS020 SporView® Culture Set is an in-office biological indicator system designed to monitor the effectiveness of steam, ethylene oxide gas, chemical vapor, and dry-heat sterilization processes. Supplied in a 20-test configuration, the system features biological indicator spore strips with separate color-indicating culture media for clear visual assessment following incubation.
Material/Structure
- Biological indicator culture-set configuration
- Paper-carrier spore strips enclosed in protective glassine envelopes
- Separate culture-media tubes for post-processing incubation
- Color-based and turbidity-based visual result interpretation
- Designed for aseptic transfer of processed spore strips into the culture media
Formulation
- Biological indicators contain resistant bacterial spores selected according to the sterilization process being monitored.
- Geobacillus stearothermophilus supports monitoring of steam and chemical-vapor sterilization processes.
- Bacillus atrophaeus supports monitoring of ethylene oxide gas and dry-heat sterilization processes.
- Culture media contains Tryptic Soy Broth with bromocresol purple as a pH indicator.
- Microbial growth produces a visible media color change from purple to yellow and may also produce turbidity.
Cleanroom Environment
- Supports biological monitoring of sterilization equipment used in controlled processing and laboratory workflows.
- Provides direct biological evidence for evaluating whether a monitored sterilization cycle effectively inactivated resistant microorganisms.
- Separate spore strips and culture media support established aseptic-transfer procedures following sterilizer processing.
- Suitable for use according to applicable facility sterilization-monitoring procedures and quality-control protocols.
Benefits
- One system supports steam, ethylene oxide gas, chemical vapor, and dry-heat sterilization monitoring.
- Useful for facilities operating multiple types of sterilization equipment.
- Color change and visible turbidity provide straightforward visual result interpretation.
- Biological indicators directly challenge the sterilization process using resistant bacterial spores.
- Separate culture-media tubes support convenient post-processing incubation.
- In-office testing allows sterilization monitoring to be completed within the facility.
Applications
- Steam sterilization monitoring
- Ethylene oxide gas sterilization monitoring
- Chemical-vapor sterilization monitoring
- Dry-heat sterilization monitoring
- Healthcare and dental instrument-processing areas
- Laboratory and pharmaceutical quality-control workflows
Incubation and Interpretation
- Process the biological indicator in a normal sterilizer load according to the instructions for use.
- Following processing, aseptically transfer the biological indicator strip into the supplied culture media.
- Incubate indicators used for steam or chemical-vapor processes at 56°C for seven days.
- Incubate indicators used for ethylene oxide gas or dry-heat processes at 37°C for seven days.
- A color change and/or visible turbidity in the processed indicator media signals microbial growth and indicates a potential sterilization failure.
- Interpret results according to the product instructions and applicable facility procedures.
