Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB), Glass Serum Vial with Needle-Port Septum, 20mL
Details
Hardy Diagnostics U38 Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB) is a sterile, prepared culture medium supplied as a 20 mL fill in a 20 mL glass serum vial for cultivating and detecting a wide variety of bacteria, yeasts, and other fungi. Featuring a needle-port septum for aseptic inoculation and sampling, this ready-to-use medium supports USP sterility testing and pharmaceutical microbiology quality-control workflows.
Material/Structure
- Prepared liquid culture medium
- Container: 20 mL glass serum vial
- Closure: Needle-port septum
- Fill volume: 20 mL
- Clear, light amber appearance
- Sterile
Formulation
- Tryptic Soy Broth, also known as Soybean-Casein Digest Broth
- Conforms to the Tryptic Soy Broth formula specified by the United States Pharmacopeia
- Contains pancreatic digest of casein, papaic digest of soybean meal, sodium chloride, dextrose, and dipotassium phosphate
- Formula per liter: 17.0 g pancreatic digest of casein, 5.0 g sodium chloride, 3.0 g papaic digest of soybean meal, 2.5 g dextrose, and 2.5 g dipotassium phosphate
- Final pH: 7.3 ± 0.2 at 25°C
- Casein and soybean meal digests provide amino acids and other nitrogenous nutrients that support microbial growth.
- Dextrose provides an energy source, while dipotassium phosphate helps maintain the medium’s pH.
Cleanroom Environment
- Supports sterility testing and microbiological quality-control workflows in pharmaceutical and compounding environments.
- Needle-port septum permits inoculation and sampling without completely removing the vial closure.
- Sterile, ready-to-use format reduces handling and in-house media preparation requirements.
- Manufactured in an ISO 13485 environmentally controlled production center.
- Each lot is certified for pH, sterility, and growth promotion using applicable ATCC® strains specified by the USP.
Benefits
- General-purpose formulation supports the growth of a wide variety of bacteria, yeasts, and other fungi.
- Supports the detection of low-incidence fungi and aerobic bacteria during sterility testing.
- High-clarity medium facilitates visual observation of microbial growth and helps reduce the risk of incorrect interpretation.
- Needle-port septum provides convenient access while maintaining vial closure.
- Ready-to-use format saves time associated with weighing, mixing, dispensing, and preparing culture media.
- 20 mL vial format supports individual sterility-testing and microbiological procedures.
Applications
- USP <71> sterility-testing procedures
- Membrane-filtration sterility-testing workflows
- Cultivation of bacteria, yeasts, and other fungi
- Detection of microbial contamination
- Pharmaceutical microbiology quality control
- Compounding pharmacy testing workflows
- Environmental and industrial microbiology
- Preparation of organism dilutions and standard inocula
Storage
- Store at 2°C to 25°C.
- Keep away from direct light.
- Protect from excessive heat, moisture, and freezing.
- Do not use if the medium shows contamination, deterioration, discoloration, or is beyond its expiration date.
